The Nordic Academy
Instructor Course is for people working in the fitness or health
industry - such as personal trainers, exercise physiologists, fitness
instructors, physiotherapists, nurses, etc. Its aim is to produce high
quality NW Instructors equipped with all of the necessary skills and
knowledge to benefit their clients or patients and to make their Nordic walking
programs a success.
Pre-requisites
for Participation in the Instructor Course
To
participate in the Nordic Walking Instructor Course it is necessary for
participants to already have either Leader Certificate or hold a diploma or
degree in health, sports and recreation, or have extensive knowledge and
experience as a serious sports coach. Must process with minimum of Certificate
in Coaching Level 1(NCAP One) conduct by the Singapore Sport Council
As Nordic
Walking is a new fitness activity in Singapore anyone proclaiming to
have obtained a qualification from overseas will be consulted and tested
(theory and practical) to ensure that they would pass the criteria for this
course.

DAY 1 9am - 4pm
* Development and present status of Nordic Walking
* Health and fitness benefits explained
* Learning the basic technique & how to teach others
* Videotape analysis and review of personal techniques
* Equipment - poles, shoes, accessories
* Stretching exercises for NW
* Marketing of NW to attract your customers
* Legal and safety issues
DAY 2 9am - 4pm
* Able to plan safe routes for
individual and group.
* Understanding major muscles

* NW technique variations - jogging, bounding, double poling, skating
* Strengthening exercises for NW
* Theoretical & practical teaching assessments
